I got a chance to sneak out to the hangar today. I spent the day working on completing the Stub Spar and Rear Spars. Nothing too hard, though I did get an opportunity to drill out some rivets. Note that the Flaperon Hinges are not oriented the same direction. Pay close attention to the pictures on Page 14-03.

Wing and lighting kits arrived on Friday. Great packing as usual from Van’s! As you can see, ribs make up a large portion of the parts count. Everything was there except for one piece (got two lefts instead of one L and one R).

Yep, two wing spars and sundry other long parts

Had a great morning with EAA Chapter 1114 at Cox Airport in Apex, NC. Went to the hangar afterwards and spent about six hours working on my wing kit. Got out the spars and attached all the rib attach brackets and various rivets as called out in the plans. Then it was back to the front spars to countersink 168 holes on the angled flanges. Lots of fun and made a mess. Ready to debur and rivet next work session.

Attached rib clips and tip rib clips to each spar

Installed other rivets as called out

Countersunk both sides of the Stub Spar end and all 168 Stub Spar flange holes

Countersinking the flange holes is lots of fun. a pair of 2x4s help in holding the flange flat for drilling

Clamped the flap and aileron to the right wing and aligned them. Marked the position of the hinges to rivet nutplatesduring final assembly.

After placing the seat on a plywood to check the slider adjustment, I could not get off the seat :) Was sitting for almost 20 minutes before I could force myself out of a trance like state....
