Congratulations! You have arrived at one of the largest and most active Experimental Aircraft Association chapters in the southeastern USA.

EAA1114 is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that offers something for every aviation interest in central North Carolina: homebuilding, vintage, warbirds, ultralights, fly-ins, fly-outs, workshops, aviation history and good old hangar flying.

*new* -- Regular Chapter meeting on Saturday 12/17 -- We hope to see you at our final meeting for 2022 on December 17th (Wright Brothers Day!). We'll have a general discussion of plans for 2023, and an update on Young Eagles activities.

Regular Chapter meeting on Saturday 11/18 -- Thanks to those how came out to join us for a fresh-cooked breakfast and aviation camaraderie. We had a very nice turnout of about 45 folks, including several new members and visitors. Meeting discussion covered recent events like our Nov 12 YE rally, and possible plans and activities for 2023. We hope to see you at our final meeting for 2022 on December 17th (Wright Brothers Day!).

Final YE Rally for 2022 -- Thanks to Rick Mestler and a fine crew of volunteers for making the final Young Eagles Rally for the year a success. Weather turned in our favor after a visit from TS Nichole, and we were able to fly 75 happy kids at the Henderson-Oxford Airport (KHNZ).

Many thanks to Tim Misegades and the fine folks at the GE jet engines plant in Durham - 30ish members of the Chapter had a great tour of the plant on Aug 20th. It's absolutely amazing to see how the most sophisticated jet engines on the planet are built!

Thanks to those who participated in the Young Eagles rally on June 25th at Raleigh Exec. 68 kids flown!

We had a great turnout for our Saturday March 19th and April 16th meetings at the Cox Aerodrome, thanks to all who came out to get the band back together, and thanks specifically to the various aircraft builders who presented photos and current state of their project. Vans, Rans, Just, Pitts, and even the Ryan Co. were well represented. We're looking forward to hearing from other Chapter builders in the future!

For those at the meeting who were asking about joining the Chapter -> please see the details on the Join Us page.

In recent years, the Chapter has had several successful Ray Aviation scholarship student candidates complete various pilot training. We plan to continue to support and expand this effort. Your tax-deductible contribution can help make that possible. Email scholarship@eaa1114.org for more info.

Thanks to Tom Haley and the Greensboro FAASTeam for presenting the capabilities, limitations and how to comply with the requirements of ADS-B at our Feb 19th virtual Chapter meeting.

IMC/VMC Club will meet via Zoom until further notice - See the FAAST site for scheduled meetings.

Our own Jan Squillace makes the local news! - Chapter member extraordinaire discusses making her childhood dream come true at KTTA.

Our Chapter has again been approved to select a Ray Aviation Scholarship candidate - the process allows us to select a student pilot aged 16 to 19 who will compete for a scholarship of up to $10,000 towards training for a Private pilot certificate. For more information or to propose a student you think is deserving of this fantastic opportunity in the future, contact our scholarship coordinator, Dan Moore.
